Wow has it been that long since we've thrown a party in NYC? Finally we are back for the first time since early 2006. We are throwing our seasonal IDIB party in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge. Expect an amazing night with amazing music and set design. It's the first Glass Candy show in NYC in over two years! And, Nite Jewel's first NYC show as a duo! This will also be the coming out party for our newest group: Twisted Wires from Texas! And Mike is going to drive 15 minutes to dj! Get your tickets early because it's going to sell out fast. Some killer early stuff here that hasn't been leaked that much. You can hear some influence that leaked through to some Italians artists as well (hint hint)... But when i tell people i love the Cure, i really mean it. Maybe I'll post some Cure edits i did. I feel weird posting edits sometimes... but anyway, enjoy!

OK, here's the backstory. early in 2008 mike and johnny went into the studio to work on stuff, fuck around a little with edits, music etc... Mike brought a box of records into the studio, and they picked out some songs. We came up with an idea to collaborate on a mix of edits. We did a bunch of edits on the fly (no computers, just a few cdjs) and did a mix. At the time, Mike was staying at Adam and Natties house and as we all know he's allergic to cats, and he was pretty fucked up the whole time he was there, in a constant state of "almost asthma attacks"... The typical Portland weather (DAMP RAIN) didnt help either. Plus we listened to chopped and screwed hip hop pretty much exclusively (as it is the shit Johnny listens to being from Houston and all). The mix you hear is the result of some of my time in Portland in early 2008... Pitched down tracks for your enjoyment... Done in a single take, Mike and Johnny knocked out some edits and tried to mix them. Some of these are proper "edits", others are simple extensions of the good parts for djing purposes, and a few tracks were perfect the way they were. Shit, some are even edits of other edits!!! The original tape was all but lost, but i found this on my ipod on the plane and dumped it to my computer. I totally forgot about it. you may have heard some of these versions in a live nightclub setting when i was djing. small world, right? I am going to post a few edits for you all to download later this week if you want (let us know) ... Can you guess which one of these songs on this mix is one of Mike's favorite disco trax of all time?
this weekend i will be in NYC at the WFMU record fair hopefully buying all the minimal synth and DIY 7"s before all the hawks come in (dealer badge means 7am entry!)..

We try to throw parties all over the USA whenever we have a record to promote. Also playing is Farah (her first Portland gig ever!) When she is there she will hit the studio with Johnny to work on some new tracks. Very busy weekend for the Italians family. I'll be djing the gig and the afterparty as well. The afterparty will be at the "storefront". if you are from Portland you know this place. Last time i played there it was pretty insane. I love that place!
and FINALLY, regarding the ITALIANS gig. We will be selling a gig -only PINK VINYL version of BEATBOX. But have no fear, if there are any left i will lug them over to NJ for mailorder! So, the Glass Candy BEATBOX vinyl is almost ready for mailorder consumption. we will have it in a few days, and once it is here you will be able to order it. i havent even seen it yet. there will also be a few other surprises coming at the same time in the form of black plastic . yes, new 12"s! we are trying to see if we can manage to get them all out at once. What are the 12"s you ask? SHHHHHHHH cant tell you just yet. We like to wait until the last minute to tell you these things.

hi. holy shit, theres nothing like waiting on line to take off at the runway for an hour and 10 minutes... and to top it off, the airport lost all of my luggage including my records. for that, i apologize Montreal, Toronto, and Chicago. But it wasnt my fault! They wouldnt let me carry on my records. They usually do. Because of this i was forced to play the cds i had with me. but have no fear, when i finally got the luggage back, the airport obliterated my record box thus rendering it useless. (they TAPED IT TOGETHER!) Thankfully the records are all Ok. SO i got a smaller carry on style dj bag so this never happens again. It worked well for Brazil. Im stoked.
Oh yea, next Thursday September 18th myself and 3 other guys i know are djing together to celebrate one of our own. Jacques just released an edit 12" on RVNG, and this is the record release party for it. you may know Jacques as we released what i think is his first mix like 6 years ago? also djing is Justin Miller, another guy who used to dj with Jacques at 205 before they shut down... Justin is also the guy who may or nay not send you those promo DFA 12"s..And some dude named Lovefingers. JUST KIDDING- we had him play the Italians Do It Better PS1 party last summer. Hes one of my favorite djs, and he is probably yours as well. SO its just 4 guys who know each other and always dj.... Together we have a really IQ.

hello. so as you may or may not know, we moved from scenic jersey city to a much nicer area. when we moved we switched post offices (thank god). ever since we moved we have experienced something we havent experienced in a long time: efficiency. we feel this post office is a new beginning for us. some of you have emailed us surprised by the speed in which their mail arrived. we couldn't be happier. if there are any more issues with the mail email us. but i doubt there will be any more problems.
also we have been receiving some returned mail thanks to the jersey city post office. many of you have received emails from us and we are returning what we have been sent back. that would be a few of the fabled "spring bundles"... remember that fiasco?
anyway, we are running very low on tote bags and shirts, so if you want one i would order it soon. Those designs will not be made anymore after we run out of these. We are also down to the copies of the Farah 12" and IN THE CITY 12"... As you know we wont repress these, but they are available thru all of your favorite digital outposts if you so feel inclined.

yes i am returning to LOVE in NYC. having been there in a while. im personally pretty psyched about the lineup. Kon and Amir are excellent. should be fun. i am djing from 12-1:30 AM. THIS THURSDAY! its one of the best spots in NYC , but you know that already. come bask in the amazing soundsystem. email me for guest list as well... etc.
ok, so here is where we stand with the spring 12"s. we shipped all of them out last week, and we gave refunds for the TIEDYE "Nothing" 12", because it is all gone. we tried waiting for the pressing plant to right their wrongs and get these out, but it wasnt happening and people were getting angry (rightly so)... so look out for your records coming next week or the week after that. once again we feel TERRIBLE about this.

AND to add insult to injury, we happen to live in the town with the WORST post office on the planet.

well, i couldnt get a visa in time to go to Brazil so the date is rescheduled for August 1 & 2- same venues, etc. i will post the proper info for the three people who care.
also, AFTER DARK 3lp will be up for mailorder this FRIDAY! i will post it for sale then.
the flagship bands on the label are taking some time off to record actual music this summer, except for a few sporadic gigs here and there... so i will be holding it down via the djing i guess.. look out for the AFTER DARK 3lp soon. this time they will be IN OUR HANDS when we offer it so there will be no fiascos like last time! also next batch of 12"s are coming soon. these three are going to be great!!!! (hint: the MIRAGE 12" may actually finally see the light of day!!!)

huh? yes the rumors are true. the front page of the NY TIMES devoted almost the entire space to this news. its huge news actually. myself and Dan Selzer are reuniting for a gig with our old friends at Mighty Robot for a reunion at one of our old haunts from back in the early 2000's. we will be djing this weekend together. also on the same night is Ben Manzones party FOREAL PEOPLE on Grand Street at the Lucky Cat a few blocks away, and ALSO Professor Genius and DC Larue (no, really DC LARUE) at Tribeca Grand in NYC. if you play your cards right you can see DC and Professor Genius, make your way to Brooklyn and stop by Mighty Robot AND Foreal People and make it a very special Italians night! and one more thing. some people have been asking for copies of some of the edits i play out sometimes when i dj. there are no plans to release such edits to the public as they are for dj purposes and they are meant to be heard out in the club. so if you REALLY want to hear them, come out to the party! plus sometimes such "edits" (i use that word VERY VERY loosely) are done on the spot via the handy cdj with the 5 or so cds i actually take with me when i play out... cds- lol!
totally forgot to mention this. I am djing Lotus tonight (Friday 6th) in NYC in the meatpacking district on 14th street... if you are in the neighborhood come by.

grey ink on black bags. we only made 25 bags, so
get em while you can. we also made a few more
t-shirts because we got so many email requests for
more. The shirts are Gildan brand, and are dark blue
with black ink. we only have size SMALL and MEDIUMS!
We made about 20 shirts. killer.
