new(ish) Mike Simonetti "Albuterol" mix for you

Photobucket

-
hello.
Happy halloween///
new ITALIANS stuff will be for sale later this week. TONS of
new stuff. Thanks to all who came out to the Italians party
in Portland. It was awesome, even though i was there for
under 12 hours!! See you in the spring!

OK, here's the backstory. early in 2008 mike and johnny
went into the studio to work on stuff, fuck around a little
with edits, music etc... Mike brought a box of records
into the studio, and they picked out some songs.
We came up with an idea to collaborate on a mix of edits.
We did a bunch of edits on the fly (no computers, just a
few cdjs) and did a mix. At the time, Mike was staying at
Adam and Natties house and as we all know he's allergic
to cats, and he was pretty fucked up the whole time he was
there, in a constant state of "almost asthma attacks"...
The typical Portland weather (DAMP RAIN) didnt help either.
Plus we listened to chopped and screwed hip hop pretty
much exclusively (as it is the shit Johnny listens to being
from Houston and all). The mix you hear is the result of
some of my time in Portland in early 2008...
Pitched down tracks for your enjoyment...
Done in a single take, Mike and Johnny
knocked out some edits and tried to mix them. Some of
these are proper "edits", others are simple extensions of
the good parts for djing purposes, and a few tracks were
perfect the way they were. Shit, some are even edits of
other edits!!!
The original tape was all but lost, but i found this on my
ipod on the plane and dumped it to my computer. I
totally forgot about it.
you may have heard some of these versions in a live
nightclub setting when i was djing. small world,
right? I am going to post a few edits for you all
to download later this week if you want (let us
know) ... Can you guess which
one of these songs on this mix is one of Mike's
favorite disco trax of all time?

    ITALIANS OUT OF HIBERNATION

this weekend i will be in NYC at the WFMU record
fair hopefully buying all the minimal synth and
DIY 7"s before all the hawks come in (dealer
    badge means 7am entry!)..

on Friday after FMU i am djing in NYC at 12:30
am as part of CMJ, so come on down and chill out.
    its free... see flyer below.

i will then stay awake until 7am and go back to
the record fair to grab more stuff before i jump
on a plane in the afternoon to head over to
Portland for the ITALIANS DO IT BETTER party.
We try to throw parties all over the USA whenever
we have a record to promote. This time we are promoting
a few records: BEATBOX on vinyl (with bonus 7"!) and
a new addition to the Italians family: Nite Jewel from
Los Angeles, CA. Also playing is Farah (her first Portland
gig ever!) When she is there she will hit the studio
with Johnny to work on some new tracks. Very busy
weekend for the Italians family. I'll be djing the gig
and the afterparty as well. The afterparty will be at
the "storefront". if you are from Portland you know
this place. Last time i played there it was pretty
    insane. I love that place!

and FINALLY, regarding the ITALIANS gig. We will be
selling a gig -only PINK VINYL version of BEATBOX.
But have no fear, if there are any left i will lug them
    over to NJ for mailorder!
Also at the party we will be giving away a new Glass
Candy cd called DEEP GEMS, which is a collection of
singles, b sides, and rarities. in between touring like
crazy, glass candy has been in the studio every possible
moment working on a new lp for 2009. in the meantime,
"deep gems" is a collection of rare tracks recorded
between march 2006 and october 2008. featuring 10
unreleased songs plus the remix of "miss broadway"
they've been playing live, and the 12" version of
"geto boys". here's the tracklisting of DEEP GEMS:

    1 > INTRODUCTION
    2 > FEELING WITHOUT TOUCHING
    3 > ANIMAL IMAGINATION
    4 > THE BEAT'S ALIVE
5 > SOMETHING STIRRING IN SPACE

nite jewel "what did he say" 12" b/w
"let's go the two of us together"
two new underground synth pop songs from los

back to the grind... - djing Friday NYC

my "Fall Relaxation Program" is coming to an end. I'm
slowly getting back out on the road and playing other
people's records... This weekend i am playing NYC, at
an all night, after hours event. i am playing from 3:15-
4:30 am. before me is Large Professor, you know from
Main Source... pretty nuts, right? it should be one of
"those nights" as they say. Hope to see you there. These
    parties are notoriously asweome...

coming soon to Barcelona, Sweden, Mexico, Canada,
DC, Chicago, LA, Istanbul, London, Canada again...
AND OF COURSE, the Italians Do It Better seasonal Fall
party in Portland next weekend! GONNA RULE! more info
    in a few days.

more importantly , there is going to be some news
regarding many many new Italians releases and
merchandise and new additions to the roster!

We are all coming out of our slumber. The sleeping
    giant has awoken.

BEAT BOX lp w/ 7" out VERY VERY SOON

    hello there.
sorry about the Love gig being so weird. Someone pulled the fire
alarm early on and kicked everyone out at around 11pm, and we
were forced to end early. maybe next time??? at least i didnt
have to fly 16 hours, right???

So, the Glass Candy BEATBOX vinyl is almost ready for
mailorder consumption. we will have it in a few days, and once
it is here you will be able to order it. i havent even seen it yet.
there will also be a few other surprises coming at the same time
in the form of black plastic . yes, new 12"s! we are trying to see
if we can manage to get them all out at once. What are the 12"s
you ask? SHHHHHHHH cant tell you just yet. We like to wait
until the last minute to tell you these things.

also if you are in the Portland area around the end of October,
we are having a Fall party. You should all come out. Its going to
be super fun. I will post more info in a few days. But for now,
    this will have to do.

Here are two of the little man's current favorite songs, in case
    you were wondering...

4 brain surgeons get together to dj next week in NYC

hi. holy shit, theres nothing like waiting on line to take off
at the runway for an hour and 10 minutes... and to top it
off, the airport lost all of my luggage including my records.
for that, i apologize Montreal, Toronto, and Chicago. But it
wasnt my fault! They wouldnt let me carry on my records. They
usually do. Because of this i was forced to play the cds i had
with me. but have no fear, when i finally got the luggage back,
the airport obliterated my record box thus rendering it useless.
(they TAPED IT TOGETHER!) Thankfully the records are all Ok.
SO i got a smaller carry on style dj bag so this never happens
again. It worked well for Brazil. Im stoked.

Oh yea, next Thursday September 18th myself and 3 other
guys i know are djing together to celebrate one of our own. Jacques
just released an edit 12" on RVNG, and this is the record release
party for it. you may know Jacques as we released what i think is
his first mix like 6 years ago? also djing is Justin Miller, another
guy who used to dj with Jacques at 205 before they shut down...
Justin is also the guy who may or nay not send you those promo
DFA 12"s..And some dude named Lovefingers. JUST KIDDING-
we had him play the Italians Do It Better PS1 party last summer.
Hes one of my favorite djs, and he is probably yours as well.
SO its just 4 guys who know each other and always dj....
Together we have a really IQ.

I have a plane to catch the next morning so i am playing
at 1am, but you should get there early as its a pretty solid
lineup obviously. Im hardly the reason to go there. The
sound system alone is worthy. Its at LOVE in NYC...

if anyone wants a guest list email me at:
    mike@troublemanunlimited.com

hurry i only have a few spots!

    jam of the day

had to dig this out of my stuff when i moved because i love
this record so much... yet another perfect summer jam.

IDIB "state of the mailorder" update summer 2k8

hello. so as you may or may not know, we moved from scenic
jersey city to a much nicer area. when we moved we switched
post offices (thank god). ever since we moved we have experienced
something we havent experienced in a long time: efficiency.
we feel this post office is a new beginning for us. some of you
have emailed us surprised by the speed in which their mail
arrived. we couldn't be happier. if there are any more issues
with the mail email us. but i doubt there will be any more problems.

also we have been receiving some returned mail thanks to the jersey
city post office. many of you have received emails from us and we
are returning what we have been sent back. that would be a few
of the fabled "spring bundles"... remember that fiasco?

anyway, we are running very low on tote bags and shirts, so if
you want one i would order it soon. Those designs will not be
made anymore after we run out of these. We are also down to the
copies of the Farah 12" and IN THE CITY 12"... As you know we
wont repress these, but they are available thru all of your
favorite digital outposts if you so feel inclined.

    baleric rap sumer jam

freeway is one of the most underrated rappers in my
opinion. this is an ultimate summer jam. i remember
the summer it came out it was blasted from all the
car stereos. from the golden age of pre-reggaeton.

the instrumental version is hypnotic. the vocal version
is sick and has some of my favorite freeway lyrics.
angry shit about doing what it takes to feed his kids.
seems to be the theme of the song. even a pre-
    corny Jay-Z makes an appearance.
more lazy summer posting! gigs coming soon.

    vocal version
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FLjP1ayqIU

Man if I get rocked, this shit for my kids nigga
    It's that real shit...
We still hustle 'til the sun come up
Crack a 40 when the sun go down
    It's a cold winter
    Y'all niggaz better bundle up
And I bet it be a hotter summer, grab a onion
Yes the ROC gets down, you hot now, listen up
Don't you know cops' whole purpose is to lock us down?
    And throw away the key
But without this drug shit your kids ain't got no way to eat, huh?
We still try to keep Mom...smilin'...
Cuz when the teeth stop showin' and the stomach start growlin'
    Then the heat start flowin'
If you from the hood I know you feel me
If a sneak start leanin' and the heat stop workin'
Then my heat start workin' I'm-a rob me a person
Catch a nigga sleepin' while he out in the open...and I'm-a get him
We gotta raise our kids while we livin'
Make a million off-a record bail my niggaz outta prison
Fuck a Bentley or a Lexus just my boys in the squadder
Nigga talk reckless then I hit 'em with the Smif 'n...
    But I'm never snitchin' I'm a rider
If my kids hungry snatch the dishes out ya kitchen
I'll be wylin' til they pick me outta line-up...
We keep the nines tucked, chopped dimes up, rap about it
Wyle out, fuck niggaz up, laugh about it
I'm not tryin' to visit the morgue but Freeway move out 'til I sit with the Lord
'Til I...get my shit together, clean up my sins
Freeway got it in like 10 in the mornin'
And I can get it to ya like 10 while you yawnin' mang...
    Still deliver the order mang!
And I ain't talkin' bout chicken and gravy mang!
I'm talkin' bout bricks 'o ye-yo, halves and quarters
4 and a halves of hash you do the math
Swing past us scoop up your daughter
She wanna roll wit' a thug that rap, you do the math
He won't blast 'til my stacks in order mang!
    [Jay-Z]
    ...MANG! Lemme get 'em Free
Hove never slackin' mang, zippin' in the black Range
Faster than the red ghost, gettin' ghost wit' Pac-Mang
One-time know a got a knack to get that change
Leader of the black gang, R-O-C mang
Bang like T-Mac, ski mask air it out
Gotta kill witnesses 'cause Free's beard's stickin' out
Y'all don't want no witness shit, we squeeze hammers mang
Bullets breeze by you, like Lousiana mang...
But I gotta feed Tianna mang...
So I move keys you can call me the Piano Man
    Rain...sleet, hail...snow man
    Slang dough, E, hydro man...
    [Beanie Sigel]
...no, B. Sige in the third lane
Gramps still prayin' workin on my nerves man...
Like, Son you gotta get your soul clean...
Before they blow them horns like Coltrane...
But still I cry tears of a hustler
Wipe tears from my mother, pull out beers for her brothers...
That's above us, make beds for the babies
Tuck kids under covers, buy cribs for their mothers
Shit I'll probably be wylin' with their fathers
Tell Ms. Robert, tell Enijah that I'm ridin' for her father
That's like my brother, like same mother different father
Any problems dog know I got 'em
And still we grind from the bottom
Just to make it to the bottom sold crack in the alleyways
Still gave back Marcy a Dollar Day
    Real gangstas make hood holidays
They ain't thank us but we still paid homage mang
Soul Food Sunday lookin' like Big Momma's mang
Tell the gang I never break my promise mang...mang...unnh!
